Pedri Gonzalez, Barcelona first team player, and Alexia Putellas, player of the Barcelona women’s team, were the stars of the Aldo Rovira award gala on Thursday. The award is given to Barca’s best player of last season.
The jury was made up of journalists representing a number of media outlets. The verdict was clear in both decisions. It was also the first time in history that the best player of the women’s team was awarded.
The 18-year-old midfielder beat Lionel Messi and Frenkie de Jong. The Spaniard received eight votes, ahead of five for the Argentinian and one for the Dutchman. The 27-year-old midfielder was almost unanimously voted for, although her team-mate Aitana Bonmati also received a few votes.
Josep Lluis Rovira, a former director of the club, thanked the president, Joan Laporta, for his presence at the event. They were also accompanied by the vice-president for sport, Rafa Yuste.
