Dettori concludes his Royal Ascot career with 81 victories after his final meeting.
Frankie Dettori’s quest to secure victories in all of Britain’s elite Group One races has been thwarted by a whip ban, making him ineligible for the upcoming July Cup.
The 52-year-old Italian jockey, who plans to retire later this year, received an eight-day suspension for exceeding the whip usage limit on Inspiral at the Royal Ascot. Dettori concluded in second place on the filly during the Queen Anne Stakes.
Two other jockeys, Oisin Murphy and Danny Muscutt, will also be absent from the July Cup at Newmarket due to similar violations.
Murphy, who was scheduled to ride the favourite, Shaquille, was penalised for whip rule violations with the second-placed horse, Valiant King, in the King George V Stakes.
Similarly, Muscutt faced penalties for exceeding the whip usage limit in the last two furlongs, riding fifth-placed Canberra Legend in the Hampton Court Stakes.
Throughout his career, Dettori has claimed victories in all of the British Group One races, with the exception of the July Cup held at his home track, Newmarket.
Dettori had planned to ride the Ralph Beckett-trained horse, Kinross, in the competition on 15 July.
Additionally, Dettori is expected to serve a separate nine-day ban, which he is currently appealing, for causing interference on Saga in the Wolferton Stakes at Ascot from 4 to 12 July.
James McDonald, a jockey from New Zealand, received a 14-day suspension and £400 fine for using his whip twice over the allowed limit on fourth-placed Artorius in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes.

This is why they need to relook at the whip rules! Jockeys getting banned left, right & center… it’s just not fair.
Can’t believe Dettori won’t be at the July Cup! Gutted for him, that’s a tough break towards the end of his career 🙁
