Last week, I thought that if Aaron Ramsdale can stay calm until the end of this season, Arsenal has the potential to win the title. It’s really unusual to pick a goalkeeper or defender who let in two goals, but because Aaron had an awesome second-half performance at Anfield, I felt like it was necessary to choose him.
The Arsenal keeper did some really good saves during the game. Those saves were very important, and they could be the key to helping the Gunners win the title!
Trent Alexander-Arnold did something amazing! He fooled Zinchenko with a clever move and then kicked the ball in such a way that Roberto Firmino was able to head it into the goal. When Alexander-Arnold is at his best, it’s almost like he has some kind of power over the ball – no matter what he does, it looks super impressive! Even though he may not be so great defensively, this one skill of his totally makes up for it.
The football game was amazing and credit to Arsenal for making it so special. Arsenal are almost ready to do something awesome this season, but they need to be careful with Granit Xhaxa because he could ruin the whole season if they don’t watch out.
Nathan Ake is an amazing defender for Manchester City. Last week, people said he was calm and collected, and this week his manager called him unstoppable! One of the things that make Ake so good at defending is how smart he is. For example, he ran really fast to chase down a striker from Southampton, but he never tried to tackle him suddenly–he waited until the player made a move first before doing anything himself.
In the end, Sulemana was so worried about Ake that he messed up and ended up missing a chance to score. When City played Liverpool, I made a big deal over Jack Grealish messing up, but what Ake did was far better and clever. Guardiola said his defenders need to play ‘smart’. Well, Ake definitely knows how to do this.
Kurt Zouma was a star player in West Ham’s game against Newcastle. Even though many others were removed from the team, manager David Moyes chose to keep Kurt on board because he was doing really well and managed to deal with all of Fulham’s attacks.
West Ham just won an important game after not winning any matches for the last 11 weeks, which put them on 30 points in the league. They should be safe with 36 points total. But it seems like their coach Moyes might not be suitable to lead the team next season. It would be better if they have a clean break in a respectful way so everybody can move on.
Jack Grealish is playing the same great way he used to play when he was captain of Aston Villa. Now at Manchester City, with other super talented players and more important games, Grealish is finally showing the special talent that made Man City decide they needed him on their team when he was still at Villa.
At first, people didn’t trust him but after his first season at City, he has proven himself to be a top-class player. He was surrounded by amazing players like Bernardo Silva and Kevin de Bruyne, which could have overwhelmed him, but now it seems that the boy from Solihull is doing very well. We all think that the best is still yet to come for him!
Scott McTominay recently scored two goals each in both the Cyprus and Spain matches. His football playing against Everton was one of the best I have seen so far from him. He’s pretty good at crushing into opposing players, but during the game with Everton he went above and beyond! It almost seemed like he was a different player altogether – full of authority.
Scott McTominay showed us he was capable of doing much more than stopping the opposing team from playing. Not only did he do that, but it looked like he also made Manchester United play. He didn’t want to be second best to anyone – not even to Bruno Fernandes – so he decided to take matters into his own hands which is something we’ve been waiting for a long time!
Matheus Nunes hit a great shot that Frank Lampard must’ve been sad to see! The ball flew so quickly past Kepa, the keeper had no time to react and move before it went into the goal.
Chelsea haven’t been able to score in the last three games they’ve played, even if they had kept trying all night. It’s not their coaches’ fault either – it goes deeper than that. They have an owner who knows nothing about football, but this isn’t unusual. Check out why I think Chelsea coach Lampard can’t do the job in ‘Crooks of the Matter.’
I can’t pick a team of the week without talking about Crystal Palace’s incredible 5-1 away win at Elland Road. One player who was especially amazing was Michael Olise!
The players from Palace had a lot of skill and control when playing against Leeds, so it was no surprise that Palace won. But turning back time before the game, the man who had coached this fantastic young team was fired. This made it hard for us to understand why because even though Palace hadn’t done well against teams higher in the league, we still thought they could come here and win – which they did, much better than expected!
A lot of people were expecting Liverpool to beat Arsenal at Anfield but the game turned out differently. That match showed that Arsenal might win the title this season. They looked like champions on their performance in that match.
I saw Virgil van Dijk looking scared when Jesus gathered the ball with his feet and started running towards him. It’s pretty normal for a great striker to take advantage of a defender in this sort of situation, and that’s exactly what happened. Jesus put the ball above Van Dijk’s head, scoring Arsenal’s second goal and proving all of us wrong.
Erling Haaland’s bicycle kick was my favorite goal. It looks amazing, but it is really hard to do right. Fortunately, Haaland did it amazingly well because he is an incredible goalscorer!
When City beat Liverpool without Haaland, I said they could be an even better team with him not in the team. During their game against Southampton that didn’t change my opinion. But it doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate how difficult he is to stop when he tries to score a goal.
Son Heung-min has not been having the best season, but he recently scored an amazing goal against a strong opponents -Brighton. The reason for this low performance from Son could be due to him trying so hard to make it to the World Cup when he was injured and then afterwards feeling exhausted since he played in that competition. This is just my opinion.
Spurs won the game because of the referee’s mistakes. Stuart Attwell made many wrong decisions, so much that it has caused the Professional Game Match Officials Limited to apologize for him missing a foul by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg on Kaoru Mitoma and not seeing Clement Lenglet pulling Lewis Dunk’s shirt. The PGMOL tried blaming this mistake on VAR, however that technology is just there to aid the referee; it does not control the match.
Frank Lampard
Not long ago, Chelsea won a very important soccer match called the Champions League. But now they did something strange that makes no sense at all. They sacked the manager who won them this match and then brought in a completely different manager to try to win the same match – only for them to ultimately go back to their original manager that won them the Champions League trophy! It’s totally confusing, right?
Frank Lampard is back at Stamford Bridge and it looks like he’s going to provide a comfortable presence. Most of the players here have never been with Chelsea for more than a few months, and some are even so unfamiliar with the city that they don’t know how to get from their hotel room to the locker room! The team’s new owner, Todd Boehly, doesn’t have much experience either… So he has asked Frank to help make all this chaos less stressful.
Frank Lampard is trying to do something amazing in the Champions League. If Chelsea defeats Real Madrid and performs well in their league, who knows what could happen? But it wouldn’t be a good idea to give him a permanent position yet. He still needs more time with experienced managers so he can learn how to effectively manage a group of professional players – that’s different from playing alongside them! Becoming an effective manager is not easy and will take some time – he’s just not ready for that yet.
