Gujarat Titans scored 204 points in 20 overs, and Kolkata Knight Riders responded with 207 points in the same time – 3 points ahead. As the game progressed to its climax, Rinku Singh hit a fantastic 5 sixes in the last five balls, allowing his team to win! All of the players were tremendously excited, so they celebrated by hugging him on the field. Kolkata Knight Riders took home victory that day!
Rashid Khan bowled a hat-trick in the 17th over, leaving Kolkata with only 155 runs scored. But Rinku didn’t give up and fought hard to win the game in the last ball. He was 48 not out when they won! This 29 score from their last over beat the record of 23 from Sydney Sixers against Sydney Thunder in 2015 Big Bash League.
Gujarat, who are the defending champions, appeared as though they were close to a big win as they had been doing well throughout the game. They scored 204 points with Vijay Shankar’s 63 in 24 balls being a major contributor toward the total.
In Kolkata’s section of the game, Venkatesh Iyer was looking like he would be able to get his team across the finish line thanks to his wonderful 83 from 40 balls. But then Alzarri Joseph did something amazing and got rid of him with 2-27 that gave Gujarat back some hope to gain control of the game.
After Iyer got out, Kolkata were in trouble as Rashid then took out 3 more wickets. Then they had 39 runs to make from the last 9 balls, and Rinku managed to score 10 runs from 2 balls while Umesh Yadav scored 1 run from the first ball of the 20th over, giving Rinku the strike.
Dayal was throwing balls at Rinku and he smashed them into the stands. When Kolkata won, all of his team-mates cheered and hugged him.
Rinku said, “I knew I could do it! I wasn’t really thinking, just reacting to what happened. I wanted to hit as many sixes as possible and that’s what I did.” He got awarded Player of the Match.
Shikhar Dhawan Leads Punjab Kings to a Close Win against Sunrisers Hyderabad!
Shikhar Dhawan, the captain of Punjab, scored a super impressive 99 out of 143 in Sunrisers Hyderabad’s first win this season. While his team was really struggling, sinking to 88-9 with Mayank Markande taking 4 wickets and two wickets each for Marco Jansen and Umran Malik – Shikhar kept playing without getting out and made it to 99 not out from 66 balls.
The skipper of the team and number 11 player, Mohit Rathee, had a great partnership. Together, they scored 55 runs with Mohit making only 1 run. England’s all-rounder Sam Curran contributed 22 runs to help the Punjab come up with a total score of 143-9. But in response, Harry Brooks from England failed again and could only make 13 runs. However, Rahul Tripathi made an unbeaten 74 runs which got Hyderabad home just 17 balls before the end of the game.
The Indian Premier League games between HyderabadRang and Punjab Kings happened. Punjab Kings scored 143 runs in 20 overs, with Bhawan getting 99 points. Then, Jansen got 2-16 for them. But Sunrisers Hyderabad had 145 runs in 17.1 overs when Tripathi got 74 points! In the end, Sunrisers won by 8 wickets which is really impressive!
