Arsenal were not successful at the match against Liverpool, which Mikel Arteta described as a “jungle”. This caused Arsenal to feel like they lost control of their chance to win the Premier League title. Then, an argument broke out between Arteta and Liverpool’s manager Jurgen Klopp, causing everyone at Anfield to become really angry. As a result, Arsenal ended up losing 4-0.
The players came to Anfield with a clear plan – they wanted to establish an eight-point lead over the other teams.
But, they had to be aware and not make either Liverpool or Anfield mad.
The match report shows that Liverpool managed to tie it in the end and this hinders Arsenal’s attempt to win the title.
A referee is also being investigated for his actions – allegedly elbowing Robertson during the game.
At half-time, Arteta’s team were in a good position as they had scored two goals – one from Gabriel Martinelli and the other from Gabriel Jesus. The Arsenal fans at Anfield were cheering while the Liverpool supporters were very unhappy with their team’s performance.
Granit Xhaka made a bad decision and did something silly when he went into an argument with Trent Alexander-Arnold. This made the Liverpool players really angry and the crowd at Anfield super energetic. It showed that you shouldn’t make the crowd mad, because – like if you were to poke a bear in a bearpit – it won’t end well for you.
Mohamed Salah scored just before halftime, which started a wild second half. Arsenal thought they had won the game but Roberto Firmino tied the game in the last minute. At the very end of he game, Salah was given a chance to score again after Diogo Jota was fouled by Holdin, but unfortunately he couldn’t make it happen.
Arsenal had to stay strong and focused, while the noise in the environment was getting louder. They had proven their strength many times this season, so they were ready for this challenge.
Aaron Ramsdale, the keeper of the visiting team, did a great job of keeping the score level. At one point he saved Darwin Nunez from scoring and in the end he produced an amazing fingertip save when Salah was ready to make a goal. Even then, Salah had a good opportunity at the far post to try and score but failed. Liverpool was very close to making a win but unfortunately it didn’t happen.
Manchester City’s soccer match ended 2-2, which puts them in a great spot to win the championship. They are only six points behind their rivals who lead the league and have a game left that they get to play at home against the team on top.
Arsenal didn’t do too well at Liverpool’s soccer stadium; hence, it was surprising when Robert Firmino scored a great header. This raised questions whether the point gained from this drawing match was really worth anything or if two points could have been lost in its place?
At the end of this season, Arsenal may feel super disappointed for having a 2-0 lead and controlling the game but only to get just one point in return. It was all due to Xhaka’s actions that caused the atmosphere on their side to go bad and lack of discipline for a few moments before half-time. If they hadn’t lost control like that, things would’ve been different!
At halftime during the game, an unlikely thing happened to get Liverpool extra fired up for the second half. The referee’s assistant Constantine Hatzidakis bumped arms with Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson in a way that was not expected. This action is now being investigated by the Professional Game Match Officials Board (PGMOL).
During this eventful match, Arsenal was impressive as they moved around quickly for the first 40 minutes and it seemed like all of their bad memories from Anfield were gone. Martinelli took advantage of Alexander-Arnold’s weak defending while Virgil van Dijk wasn’t at his best in stopping attacking players.
There’s no denying Arsenal were really in control at the start of the game, but many people were confused when their manager, Arteta, swapped captain Martin Odegaard with called-up defender Jakub Kiwior during the match.
This season,Arsenal’s team overcame any obstacle in their way and showed a lot of determination and strength. Even when it looked like the game was lost, they still kept fighting. When everything finished, Arsenal’s fans thanked Ramsdale for helping them get this point they got.
Arsenal still have a challenging game against Manchester City and away at Newcastle to come. They need to hope that the way they wasted a winning opportunity at Anfield isn’t something they will regret later on.
