Jofra Archer made a comeback to white-ball cricket this year before an elbow injury occurred.
According to Sussex head coach Paul Farbrace, Jofra Archer is “on track” to assist England in retaining their 50-over World Cup championship this coming October.
Archer, the fast bowler, significantly contributed to England’s victory on home ground four years back and later had an important role in the Ashes series against Australia that same summer.
However, Archer, now 28, has struggled with injuries, undergoing numerous elbow surgeries and dealing with a stress fracture in his back.
“His progress is promising,” Farbrace announced to BBC Radio 5 Live.
“I believe he’s on track for the World Cup, which is wonderful news.”
Archer hasn’t participated in a Test for England since February 2021. He did make a comeback to play in the limited-overs tours in South Africa and Bangladesh earlier this year. However, his elbow issue resurfaced in May, preventing his participation in this summer’s Ashes series.
Farbrace, however, indicates that Archer is making significant recovery strides ahead of the tournament in India.
“He is making steady progress,” Farbrace noted.
He added, “England will need to strategize how to utilize him effectively in the coming years if he is to participate in the next Ashes series.”
