Roberto Firmino has scored more Premier League goals against Arsenal than any other player, even if you don’t include penalties – the same amount as Robbie Fowler and Wayne Rooney (10 each).
And recently he made a really important equalising goal which meant that Arsenal’s lead in the Premier League was cut down to just six points during an exciting match between Liverpool and Arsenal at Anfield.
Gabriel Martinelli scored the first goal for Arsenal after 8 minutes of their game, then Gabriel Jesus followed up by scoring a header between two players from Liverpool (Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson). But things got exciting when Granit Xhaka and Trent Alexander-Arnold had a disagreement in the first half, with Mohamed Salah quickly slotting home a goal at the far post just before it ended.
At the end of the first half, something strange happened when the referee’s assistant bumped into Liverpool defender Robertson as they left the pitch. In an exciting second half, Salah missed a penalty shot after Rob Holding tackled Jota. But just three minutes before the game ended, Firmino scored with a header thanks to Alexander-Arnold’s cross pass.
At the end, Arsenal’s goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale stopped two difficult shots from Salah and Ibrahima Konate, but they only got one point in this game. This means that Manchester City now have the chance to decide who is going to win the title because they have an extra match against Arsenal coming up.

Liverpool’s Comeback Attempt Foiled By Astonishing Save From Aaron Ramsdale
Arsenal was close to winning a game, but it didn’t happen due to an incredible save from Aaron Ramsdale shortly before the final whistle. The game had been going in Arsenal’s favor until Granit Xhaka got into a fight with Alexander-Arnold, which gave Liverpool some energy and motivation they had been lacking—it also got their crowd cheering loudly.
Salah scored a goal and that encouraged Liverpool to work harder in the second half of the match. But, because the goalkeeper from Arsenal was so good, they were not able to finish with a perfect comeback. In spite of this, Liverpool’s attack was much better after the break; however, their defence seemed weak and Arsenal got two goals easily.
None of the teams are happy with the result, as it helps Manchester City but hurts Liverpool’s chance of getting into the top four. At the beginning of the weekend, City was eight points behind Arsenal in their title race, but now has only a two-point gap due to this result and they also have an extra game they can play.
Arsenal Prevails Despite Liverpool’s Resurgent Attack
Arsenal’s team was really disappointed when Firmino arrived at the goal post and scored a great goal due to an excellent accuracy on the pass by Alexander-Arnold. But this disappointment was mostly their own fault, because earlier on in the first half they had made Liverpool and the crowd upset which changed how the game went from then on.
Arsenal got out of the game with a draw, which was mainly thanks to Ramsdale’s incredible performance. He made a lot of saves against Liverpool’s fired-up attack and this could be important in deciding who wins the title race.
Alisson made some amazing saves to keep his team in the game. He saved a shot from Salah with just his fingertips, and then blocked Konaté’s attempt at virtually the goalline with only seconds left.
Van Dijk got his first yellow card at the 31 minute mark. Then, Robertson was booked at 45 minutes in the game. After that, Henderson and Fabinho (who got his yellow card at 55 minutes) stayed on the pitch until they were substituted with Firmino and Thiago Alcántara at 78 minutes and 60 minutes respectively. Meanwhile, Jones was subbed out with Núñez at 60 minutes while Salah and Gakpo played for the whole match. Lastly, Jota was switched out with Núñez also at 60 minutes.
