Just two weeks ago, Crystal Palace’s fans never thought that their team could be playing so well that they would cheer for every pass in a game versus Elland Road.
It is like something from magical stories! Roy Hodgson, who is 75 years old and also a long-time supporter of the club, rejoined them as head coach to assist them remain in the Premier League. In his two games so far Crystal Palace have scored seven goals and only given up two.
Crystal Palace Football Club has won two games in a row and it looks like their task is almost complete. As a result, they have moved up to 12th place with 33 points and 6 above the relegation zone. However, coach Hodgson does not want to get too excited about this good display as he knows that things may not always go well. He said: “This was a good day, but they won’t be good days forever.”
“If I was a younger and less skeptical person, I might be feeling better right now because we’re almost safe from getting kicked out of our division.
“We can’t just chill out and feel all happy until we get out of this tough spot.”
Hodgson’s Guidance Transforms Crystal Palace, Zaha and Olise Shine!
Under Roy Hodgson, Crystal Palace have had as many shots on target in two games as they did in the last nine games under Patrick Vieira.
So what’s special about Hodgson that has made such a huge impact so quickly?
Hodgson seems to know how to let Wilfried Zaha, Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze do their thing better than Vieira did!
Under the guidance of Hodgson, Crystal Palace have been playing really well. In just two games they had 16 shots on goal which is equal to their total in nine games before. They also scored five goals even though their main star Zaha was injured and away from the game! His replacement, Jordan Ayew, made use of his chance by scoring twice himself!
Michael Brown, who used to play with Sheffield United and Leeds said that Crystal Palace had the confidence, bravery and quality for counter-attacking.
At Elland Road, Olise was the center of attention – he became the youngest footballer in Premier League history to give out three assists during the same game!
Hodgson said that in the second half of the game, he was doing great and has an amazing future. He is an incredible talent with lots of potential. Also, Crystal Palace plans to give him a platform where he can excel.
“Can Javi Gracia Save Leeds from Relegation?”
Leeds are only two points away from dropping down to the lowest ranking positions in the league.
Before this, Leeds looked like they were going to have a great game because they won 2-1 against Nottingham Forest and played with lots of enthusiasm during the first half when they should have scored more goals.
Sam Johnstone’s great goalkeeping and Leeds’ inability to finish prevented them from celebrating Patrick Bamford scoring his 50th goal for the club. Javi Gracia has had an impressive beginning as the manager of Leeds, having won 3 games and drawn 1 out of the 8 he played so far.
The good performance in the first half will give the former Watford boss hope that his players have what it takes to overcome the bad second-half display and get out of difficulty.
“I know my players well,” he said. “They don’t need to lose one or win one game so I can learn more about them.
“I believe in them and trust them and no matter what, we’re going to do this together.”
