Stephen Curry scored 26 points in only 22 minutes of playing time.
The Golden State Warriors completely dominated the Portland Trail Blazers, eventually winning 157-101 and clinching a spot in the play-offs. They broke an NBA record by getting 55 points in the first quarter alone with help from Stephen’s 26 nonetheless impressive points.
The Los Angeles Clippers also got the last remaining play-off spot!
The Los Angeles Clippers beat the Phoenix Suns 119-114, allowing them to secure the #5 seed in the playoffs and setting up a rematch with Phoenix. On the other hand, this result caused the Golden State Warriors to be the 6th seed and they will have to face Sacramento Kings in their first round match-up. Meanwhile, Los Angeles Lakers were trying to do well enough on their last match of the season so that they can join the playoffs, but thanks to LeBron James scoring 36 points along with 8 three-pointers, they were able to get a guaranteed spot by beating Utah Jazz 128-117.
The Clippers and Warriors both won, but the Lakers had to settle for 7th place in the West and join the “play-in tournament”. That means they get a home game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday. Karl-Anthony Towns scored 30 points which helped them win their match against New Orleans Pelicans, sending them above the Pelicans into 8th place. All of that was already decided before today so all of the Eastern Conference play-off and play-in spots are now set!
From April 11-14, teams ranked 7th to 10th will compete in a special tournament for the chance to be seeds 7th and 8th in the playoffs. The NBA will also look into why the Dallas Mavericks skipped some players during a game that they lost.
