The final match of the one-day international series between Bangladesh and India concluded with an unexpected tie as time constraints prevented a super over.
India were dismissed for 225 in 49.3 overs while pursuing a target of 226 to clinch the series.
The decision to rule out Meghna Singh as the final wicket caused discontent among the Indian team, with the captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, criticising the umpiring as “inadequate.”
In their 50 overs, Bangladesh achieved a score of 225-4, with Farzana Haque making her debut ODI century.
This score marked Bangladesh’s second highest total in ODIs and helped them draw the series at 1-1.
India’s chase was led by Smriti Mandhana and Harleen Deol, and they maintained control with a score of 139-2. However, accumulating runs proved to be a challenge as the game progressed.
India’s score was 191-5 when Deol was run out, following which they lost their last six wickets for just 34 runs.
Since the allotted time was over, it was impossible to stage a super over, resulting in both teams sharing the trophy.
Harmanpreet expressed her thoughts: “There are many lessons to take from this game. Besides the cricket itself, the standard of umpiring came as a surprise to us.
“During our next visit to Bangladesh, we will be prepared to handle such umpiring and adjust our strategy accordingly.
“Even though we had control of the game during our innings, the unsatisfactory umpiring has left us feeling disappointed about some of the decisions made by the umpires.”

wow, a real nail-biter! never saw that comin… it’s a shame we didn’t get a super over 🙁
Our girls fought well, particularly Deol. Need to be better prepared for this kind of umpiring in future. Still, a good series overall.
Next time we will win for sure! Keep going, team India!! Btw, need some fair umpires pls…
second highest total in ODIs for us! Proud of our girls. The trophy’s a shared one but feels like a win!
Dis umpiring, seriously! India could have won if it wasn’t for the dodgy calls. Gotta agree with our captain, Harmanpreet.
credit where credit’s due, fantastic century by Haque for Bangladesh. Some brilliant cricket on display.
