Andrew Flintoff, the former England cricket team captain, has taken on the role of head coach for the Northern Superchargers men’s squad in The Hundred competition.

At 45, Flintoff steps into the shoes of former England and Essex wicketkeeper James Foster, bringing a wealth of experience to the position.

Flintoff, who has been recovering from a serious accident incurred while filming for the BBC’s Top Gear in December last year, had previously lent his expertise to the England team in a less formal capacity.

He was part of the coaching team for England’s white-ball series against New Zealand this September, an experience he credits for reigniting his passion for the sport.

“This opportunity to coach the Superchargers is something I’m eagerly looking forward to. I aim to lead the team to victory while creating lasting memories and helping to broaden cricket’s appeal,” Flintoff remarked.

Wait, does this mean less of Flintoff on telly? Loved him on Top Gear, he’s hilarious! But, cricket’s gain I guess.
