British tennis player, Dan Evans, was close to reaching his fourth singles final at an ATP event. Unfortunately, Roberto Carballes Baena from Spain ended up coming back after being down a set and winning the match in three sets (2-6 6-4 6-2). On another note, British player Francesca Jones lost her first WTA semi-final against Tatjana Maria in the Copa Colsanita tournament.

Jones, 22 years old, lost a tennis match to Maria of Germany, who was the defending champion. The game happened after there was a lengthy rain delay. Before this match, Evans had been on a six-match losing streak since he won in the second round of the Australian Open in January. His only other ATP title came at Melbourne’s Murray River Open in February 2021 and he also made it to two other finals in the 250 Series.

Baena recently won the 2018 Ecuador Open and he’ll now face Alexandre Muller from France who is ranked 126th in the world.

Meanwhile, Casper Ruud, who is number five worldwide, just qualified to his first final of 2020 at the Estoril Open. He beat French player Quentin Halys 6-4 3-6 7-6 (7-2) and will be playing Miomir Kecmanovic in the final!
