Bruno Fernandes, who recently scored for Manchester United in their pre-season victory against Arsenal, has pledged to maintain his current approach despite being named the club’s official captain.
For the first time since taking over the captain’s armband from Harry Maguire, Fernandes guided United to a win over Arsenal in a pre-season match this past Saturday.

Since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013, United has struggled to compete for either the Premier League title or the Champions League, let alone win either.
“Manchester United has to contend for everything. The club deserves that,” Fernandes asserted.
He acknowledged the need for another forward, especially in light of Anthony Martial’s ongoing injury problems, which kept him out of the 2-0 win over Arsenal in New Jersey.
“With Wout (Weghorst) no longer with us, we’re short a striker,” admitted Fernandes. “Anthony is still not ready, leaving us with only one player for the striker role. The club and the manager are well aware of our need for more personnel in this position.”
