Drama at Paris-Roubaix as Alison Jackson Wins Sprint Finish After Crash Takes Out Favourites

by admin

Canada’s Alison Jackson had an amazing victory in the third edition of the women’s Paris-Roubaix race. Defending champion Elisa Longo Borghini, and race favorite Lotte Kopecky both fell off their bikes with 39km to go in the 145.5km sprint. But Jackson was determined and fought hard against Katia Rasgusa and Marthe Truyen at the finish line, and won!

The group that crashed had their hopes dashed when they encountered a slippery road with lots of bumps. But, Borghini and Kopecky could still finish the race by getting to 7th and 20th place. Georgi Pfeiffer which is part of Team DSM, was the first British athlete to finish at 8th place. Jackson’s reaction? “It’s amazing! I can’t believe it! It’s like a dream come true.”

I wanted to do well in this race, so that I would be at the front. You need to stay away from any bad luck when you are competing, as it was not worth all the effort if I got unlucky after leading for so long.
