The investigation, released in June, uncovered prevalent issues of racism, sexism, classism, and elitism in the sport. The newly formed regulatory authority will focus on safeguarding, combating corruption, doping, and discrimination.
Richard Gould, the ECB’s chief executive, emphasized the necessity for cricket to adopt “the best processes”. He stated this was crucial for the sport’s integrity and future.

Dave Lewis, a former police officer, has been selected as the interim director. He will establish the framework for the regulator before a permanent director takes over in 2024.

In response, the ECB has agreed to “most” recommendations from the ICEC, including the establishment of a regulator, to foster change in the sport.
In September, the ECB declared a £2m investment in initiatives aimed at increasing participation among ethnically diverse groups, state schools, and individuals with disabilities.
