England has made three changes to their lineup for the upcoming third Ashes Test against Australia. Mark Wood, Chris Woakes, and Moeen Ali have been selected to strengthen the team’s performance.

Unfortunately, Ollie Pope will be unable to continue in the series, but England has decided not to replace him with Dan Lawrence, the additional batsman in their squad. Instead, Harry Brook will be promoted to the number three position, while all-rounders Woakes and Moeen have been included to provide depth to the lower order.

Wood will join forces with Woakes, Stuart Broad, and Ollie Robinson in the pace attack, as Josh Tongue and James Anderson have been given a rest. This Test match is scheduled to commence at Headingley on Thursday.

Wood, known for his high pace, missed the first two Tests due to a series of minor injuries. This will be his first Test appearance since England’s tour of Pakistan last winter. As for Woakes, he returns to the Test side after featuring in his last match in March 2022, prior to the captaincy of Ben Stokes and the appointment of coach Brendon McCullum.

It’s worth noting that Brook, who represents Yorkshire, has never batted higher than the fifth position in his nine Test matches. Although he has previously batted at number three for his county on 13 occasions, the most recent instance being in 2018.

The England team for the third Test will consist of Ben Duckett, Zak Crawley, Harry Brook, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow (wicketkeeper), Chris Woakes, Moeen Ali, Stuart Broad, Mark Wood, and Ollie Robinson.
