England’s manager, Sarina Wiegman, wants the team to be ready for their upcoming game against Australia on Tuesday. This will be England’s 30th match unbeaten and is important for them to stay well-prepared until the World Cup in July. Australia are ranked 10th in the world and Wiegman expects her team to have a tough time with this match.
England won’t make any big changes, but defender Alex Greenwood can’t play because she has a concussion. Australia is likely to use their strong players in the match, including Chelsea striker Sam Kerr. Manager Wiegman mentioned that they rested Kerr for Friday’s game against Scotland and now he could be back in England’s starting lineup.
Australia has had many successful games. Even though their match against Scotland didn’t go that well, over the past few months they were still doing amazing.
They play a very powerful and direct style of game which is different to Brazil’s method but just as difficult – if not more so!
If England and Australia both make it out of their groups in this year’s World Cup, they might have to face each other later on down the line. However, Wiegman doesn’t seem too bothered about that yet.
The World Cup is coming up, but Team England is focused on improving their skills and getting the best out of this game. They don’t think too much about what might happen in the future because some of their players are injured, and the same could happen to the opposing team. Brazil has won a test that England needed, but it’s not clear if defender Houghton will be ready for the World Cup.
England Wins Big with New Coach – Ella Toone Scores Spectacular Goal!
On Thursday, the England team won their first game under new coach Wiegman! Ella Toone, a midfielder on the team, said they are really fortunate to have him as the leader and can’t wait to see what else they accomplish this summer. Ella even scored a goal in the match against Brazil but unfortunately lost in the penalty shootout. Despite this, Ella is still feeling really positive moving forward.
We did a great job and achieved our goal – we won the game! Because of that I’m practising free throws even more during practice.
Every match we play teaches us something and this one was no different. In the first half, we showed our best performance while in the second half, it was all about how we dealt with various changes.
