Lewis Dunk, who earned his only England cap during a friendly against the USA in 2018, has withdrawn from the England squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers. Similarly, midfielder Jude Bellingham will also miss the games.

Dunk, aged 31, has not joined Gareth Southgate’s squad at St George’s Park due to an injury he sustained. As for Bellingham, aged 19, he is still recovering from an injury that prevented him from participating in Borussia Dortmund’s final game of the season. However, Bellingham will continue his rehabilitation with the England squad.

It is expected that Bellingham will join Real Madrid this summer, as the Spanish club has agreed to a £88.5m (103m euro) deal with Dortmund for the talented teenager.

The rest of the 25-man squad began reporting to St George’s Park on Sunday. However, West Ham midfielder Declan Rice and the Manchester City players—Jack Grealish, John Stones, Phil Foden, Kyle Walker, and Kalvin Phillips—will arrive in the following days, having been involved in their respective European finals.

England’s first qualifier will be against Malta on Friday, followed by a home match against North Macedonia at Old Trafford on Monday.

Dunk’s previous and only cap for England was against the USA in 2018. He was called back to the squad after helping Brighton secure a spot in Europe for the first time in the club’s history last season.

What a bummer! Lewis Dunk had just one cap b4 against the USA. Now he’s injured & won’t be joining the squad. And poor Jude Bellingham, still hurt from his last game with Dortmund. At least he’ll be rehabbing with England. Get well soon, lads!

Gutted to hear that Lewis Dunk & Jude Bellingham won’t be playin’ in England’s qualifiers. Dunk’s been a rock for Brighton & finally got another chance with the national team. Bellingham’s got a bright future, hope he recovers quickly. Come on, Three Lions!

No Dunk or Bellingham? Ugh, that’s not what England needed. Dunk’s been great for Brighton & now he’s injured. Bellingham’s got a big move to Real Madrid coming up, hope he’s fit for that. Wishing them a speedy recovery! England still gonna do it though!
