West Ham’s victory in the Europa Conference League final was marred by accusations from Fiorentina’s president, Rocco Commisso, who claimed that his team was treated like “animals” during the match.
The intensity of the final resulted in striker Luca Jovic suffering a broken nose and left-back Cristiano Biraghi sustaining a bloodied face after being struck by an object thrown from the crowd. West Ham secured a late win with Jarrod Bowen’s goal, ending their 43-year wait for a trophy.
Commisso expressed disappointment with the outcome, stating, “I expected to win, but the match did not unfold as anticipated.” He further criticized the incidents on the pitch, suggesting that the referee should have intervened. In an effort to address the situation, Commisso revealed that he had spoken to the president of the Premier League, expressing his concerns about West Ham’s treatment of Fiorentina. He deemed their behavior inappropriate and stressed that it could have affected the final result, which he believed could have been a 3-0 victory for Fiorentina.
Fiorentina also issued a statement strongly condemning the incident involving Cristiano Biraghi. The club expressed their disapproval of such behavior, emphasizing that it distracted the players from the game and compromised their safety. They asserted their confidence in UEFA taking appropriate action to punish those responsible for the incident and prevent its recurrence in the future.
In a separate development, the police in Prague reported a total of 23 arrests related to the final. Among the arrested individuals, one was a West Ham fan, while the remaining 22 supported Fiorentina. The arrests were primarily associated with an altercation between Fiorentina and West Ham fans at a bar in central Prague, with 17 fans from the Italian club detained in connection with the incident.

This is just not right! If Fiorentina was treated like animals, that’s so bad. West Ham should play fair and not hurt the other players. It’s not a good look for the game, you know?
Finally, West Ham gets a trophy after 43 years! We played hard and deserved the win. Yeah, some incidents happened, but that’s not the whole story. Let’s celebrate our victory, COYI!
As an Italian football fan, I’m disappointed to hear about the treatment of Fiorentina players. Football is about skill and fair play, not violence and objects thrown at players. UEFA needs to take strong action against those responsible.
A broken nose and a bloodied face? That’s rough! Hope Jovic and Biraghi recover soon. No place for violence in football, people should remember that. Let’s focus on the game and support our teams without resorting to such behavior.
