Fabio Silva Joins Rangers on Loan from Wolves for Season’s Duration

Fabio Silva, following his record-breaking transfer to Wolves in the summer of 2020, has begun 29 matches for the team.

Rangers have recently acquired Wolves’ forward, Fabio Silva, on a loan deal for the season’s remainder.

Silva, a promising talent for the Portugal Under-21 team, was a major investment for Wolves, costing them a record £35.6m from Porto in 2020 at just 18 years of age.

However, his impact at the club has been less than anticipated, and the 21-year-old is set to join Ibrox on January 1, marking the first signing under Philippe Clement’s management.

Clement, the new Rangers manager, is excited to welcome the “talented and experienced striker”, who brings with him a wealth of knowledge from his time in England and European football.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Silva stated, “I’m thrilled. Everyone I’ve talked to about Glasgow and Rangers only had positive things to say about the club’s rich heritage.

“Having previously played at Porto against Rangers in the Europa League, I’m already familiar with the passionate atmosphere, the environment, and the stadium. It all feels just right.”

Clement, who took over after Michael Beale was dismissed in October, faces challenges with Danilo’s long-term injury and Kemar Roofe’s ongoing fitness issues.

Silva’s arrival will enhance Clement’s options in the attack as Rangers, currently trailing Celtic by five points but with two games in hand, aim to close the gap in the Scottish Premiership. They are also focused on making progress in the Europa League, aiming to advance past the last 16.

Last season, Silva had loan stints with Anderlecht in Belgium and PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands, where he netted 15 goals in 46 matches.

Under contract at Molineux until 2026, with an option for an additional year, Silva has had 10 appearances for Wolves this season. His sole goal was against Blackpool in the EFL Cup in August, and he hasn’t been in the starting lineup for a league match since September 3.
