Greg Norman Believes a Winner of the Masters at LIV Would Spark Group Celebration by 18th Green

Brooks Koepka, who has won four major championships, got ready for the Masters tournament by winning a LIV Golf competition on Sunday in Orlando. The event is happening at Augusta National in Georgia from April 6 to April 9, and you can get updates with live text commentary of all the rounds on the Sport News Center website along with live radio commentary every day between 22:00 BST (Thursday and Friday) and 20:00 (Sunday).

Members from the LIV Golf Tour have some exciting plans if one of them takes home the Masters trophy on Sunday. Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson, both former Masters winners, as well as Open champion Cameron Smith are part of these players. Greg Norman, the Commissioner of this tour, is feeling excited at even just the thought that one of their team mates could win.

Australian Norman, who came in second place at the Masters three times, told NewsCorp that no matter who ends up winning the tournament, everyone will be gathered on the 18th green (the final hole). When you complete this hole, your caddie usually gives you a hug and then you see your parents or spouse. But now there will also be 17 other people present to show their support and spread an atmosphere of camaraderie.

Even though the PGA Tour has banned some players from joining the LIV Golf circuit, all the eligible ones still have a chance to play in any of the four major golf tournaments.

In 2023’s Augusta tournament, we will get to watch six previous Masters champions compete against each other. The names of these golfers include Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Bubba Watson, Sergio Garcia, Patrick Reed and Charl Schwartzel. They are set to start playing on Thursday.

Norman thinks lots of fans would like to watch a LIV golfer compete for the Green Jacket along with Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and Jon Rahm. He said it’d be like the “Super Bowl,” where DJ, Brooks Koepka, or Cam could get in on the action against Rory and Rahm. It would probably get crazy high ratings!

Last week, LIV Golf hosted its third event where professional golfer Brooks Koepka won by one shot over Sebastian Munoz on a score of 15-under par. People and TV networks want Rory to play against any of the top players because that would cause higher ratings than normal. Norman also made sure that the putting surfaces were quickened so that his players can prepare better for the Masters tournament.

This week it is expected to rain hard at Augusta and that could make the golf course greens slower. However, Greg Norman believes that even with the wet ground and a very long golf course record length of 7,545 yards, his players like Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau will still perform well because they are longer hitters.
