Securing his second consecutive victory on the DP World Tour, Louis Oosthuizen emerged as the champion of the Mauritius Open on Sunday by a margin of two strokes.

Oosthuizen’s triumph was even more remarkable considering it occurred at La Reserve Golf Club, a course he co-designed. The 41-year-old South African, who is also a former Open champion, marked his return to winning form last week at the Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek, his first victory in five years.

“It’s an incredible feeling to win here,” Oosthuizen expressed. “It’s almost like a fairy tale to compete and win on a course that you’ve had a hand in designing.

“Golf is a peculiar sport. In the last few weeks, I haven’t spent much time practicing. I played a few rounds, and when I arrived at Leopard Creek, I was fine-tuning a small aspect of my game.

“My shots started to really come together, and with my putting game strong, I just kept that momentum going.”

Oosthuizen began Sunday’s round leading by a single stroke but encountered early setbacks with bogeys on the fourth and fifth holes, putting him two over early in the round.

He quickly found his stride, achieving six birdies, including a crucial one on the final par-five hole, culminating in a round of 69 and securing his win two shots ahead of England’s Laurie Canter.

Close behind were England’s Daniel Brown, Sweden’s Sebastian Soderberg, and South African Jacques P de Villiers, each a shot further back.

With Oosthuizen’s victory, players associated with LIV Golf have now won five of the first six events in the new season of the DP World Tour.

honestly didn’t expect Oosthuizen to win the Mauritius Open, thought Canter had a good chance this year. But hats off to Louis, well deserved!
