Leeds United Chairman, Andrea Radrizzani, has reached an agreement to sell his stake in the club to 49ers Enterprises for a reported £170 million. The San Francisco 49ers’ investment arm initially acquired a 15% stake in Leeds in 2018, which was later increased to 44% in 2021. Radrizzani, an Italian businessman, purchased Leeds United outright for £45 million in 2017, but his ownership stake has since diminished to 56%.

The previous sale agreement, contingent on the club’s survival in the top-flight, was valued at approximately £400 million. However, negotiations were reopened after their drop to the second tier.
In an official statement, the club confirmed the agreement between Aser Ventures and 49ers Enterprises for the purchase of Leeds United. Both parties are still finalizing the details, and further updates are expected soon. The club’s main objective remains a swift return to the Premier League.
The Leeds United Supporters Club expressed their dissatisfaction with Radrizzani, stating that he is no longer a suitable owner for the club. They criticized his behavior and emphasized that he would not be welcomed back. The supporters eagerly anticipate the acceptance of the 49ers Enterprises’ offer, believing that Radrizzani can only begin to redeem his reputation by promptly selling the club and the stadium.
Initially, Radrizzani enjoyed popularity among Leeds fans due to his role in appointing Marcelo Bielsa as manager and leading the team back to the Premier League. However, the relationship between Radrizzani and the fans soured after he dismissed Bielsa, and his absence from the final match, a defeat against Tottenham resulting in relegation, sparked chants from fans demanding his departure.
