Leeds United: Chairman Andrea Radrizzani

Leeds United Chairman Andrea Radrizzani has reached an agreement to sell his ownership stake in the club to 49ers Enterprises, the co-owners. This decision comes after Leeds United’s relegation from the Premier League, which was confirmed during their defeat by Tottenham, prompting fans to chant for Radrizzani’s departure.

Back in 2018, the investment arm of the San Francisco 49ers, 49ers Enterprises, acquired a 15% stake in Leeds United. Subsequently, they increased their ownership to 44% in 2021. Initially, Radrizzani had purchased Leeds outright for £45m in 2017, but his stake has since decreased to 56%.

As Leeds United currently find themselves without a manager and prepare for the Championship, a statement from the club confirmed the agreement between Aser Ventures and 49ers Enterprises for the club’s purchase. The statement also mentioned that both parties are working on finalizing the details, with further updates expected soon. The primary focus remains on making a swift return to the Premier League.

Following the team’s relegation, the Leeds United Supporters Club expressed their dissatisfaction with Radrizzani, stating that he is no longer a suitable owner for the club. They criticized his behavior, describing it as appalling and suggesting that he may never be welcomed back. They expressed their anticipation for the acceptance of the offer from 49ers Enterprises and emphasized that the only way for Radrizzani to redeem his reputation is through an immediate sale of the club and the stadium.

According to the Press Association, the agreed valuation for the club is around £170m. The previous agreement, which was contingent on the team remaining in the top-flight, was valued at approximately £400m. However, negotiations were restarted after their relegation to the second tier.

Recently, Radrizzani’s Aser Holding Company acquired a stake in the Italian club Sampdoria. Stay updated with the latest news, analysis, and fan perspectives on Leeds United, and ensure you never miss a moment with our comprehensive coverage.
