Mallory Swanson Injury Update: Doubtful for US Participation in World Cup Following Injury

by admin

In 2016, Mallory Swanson won her first cap representing the USA. However, due to an injury to her left knee, she is now in doubt for participating in the Women’s World Cup. Despite this severe setback, Swanson has been a great scorer for the USA team with seven goals from five different games. The Women’s World Cup will start on July 20th and United States is expected to defend its title by playing against Vietnam on July 21st in Auckland.

Julie Swanson recently returned to the Chicago Red Stars, her NWSL team, for further check-ups and there is currently no telling how long her treatment will take. Alyssa Thompson has taken over in place of Julie on the US squad before their next soccer competition against Republic on April 11th in St Louis. In the first game between them, Emily Fox and Lindsey Horan both scored goals which resulted in ending Republic’s 9game unbeaten streak as they work towards competing in the Women’s World Cup.
