Masters 2023: How Rory McIlroy Hopes to Win His First Masters by Adopting Tiger Woods’ Disciplined Approach

by admin

Rory McIlroy is planning to use the same strategy famous golfers like Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus have used at the Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia this week. He says he talks to Tiger often and hopes it will help him achieve a really big win. Sport News Center website will be live streaming the tournament with radio commentary on different days starting from 10 PM.

McIlroy said that asking Woods, who has won the golf tournament five times, has taught him how important it is to have a good plan.

He added that Woods was especially disciplined when playing at Augusta.

In an interview with Sport News Center Northern Ireland, the 33-year-old said that playing at Augusta can trick you into making risky shots. But if you want to do well in this course, take advice from two of its all-time greats: Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus. They were both really successful here, which is why they know not to go too far and risking taking on too much. That’s the formula for success!

Two months after making a big mistake and losing a big lead during the Masters tournament, Rory McIlroy won his first major at the US Open in 2011. Since then, he has won two more championships: The US PGA titles and The Open title at Hoylake. Last year, he ended up as runner-up even though he started that final day 10 shots behind the winner Scottie Scheffler. He performed his best with a 64 under par score.

If Rory McIlroy wins this tournament, he will become part of a very special group. This group includes people like Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods. They are all famous golfers that have achieved the Grand Slam. Last year at St Andrews, McIlroy shook hands with Nicklaus after a friendly game.

Jack Nicklaus Reveals the Six Shots Rory McIlroy Needs to Focus On for a Winning Game at Augusta

Nicklaus recently said on Sir Nick Faldo’s Round Table Chats podcast that golfer Rory McIlroy should pay more attention to specific shots while playing at Augusta. He mentioned six shots in particular that he thinks should get extra focus – the tee shot at hole 2, second shot on 11, tee shot at 12, tee shot at 13, second shot at 13 and second shot at 15. It makes sense coming from Nicklaus who famously won his sixth Green Jacket when he was 46 years old.

Rory said sometimes he feels like golf is the only thing he can do but also that it isn’t quite enough. He was quite hopeful after his runner-up finish last year and is wishing to re-experience those good vibes at this year’s event.

At Augusta, I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. This was a big deal for me, since it had been a long time since I’d last felt really happy about my performance. Before that, I didn’t make the cut this year which only happened twice in 14 tries in the Masters. On other occasions, I even managed to end up in the top 10 at least seven times.

Tiger Woods’ Generous Gesture

Last August, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy joined forces to create a business plan. In 2024, they and other famous golfers will come together on special virtual courses and compete against each other in stadium settings. McIlroy added that he speaks with Tiger every day, showing their strong bond.

When I first met him, I felt special. He was interested in getting to know me and what I do, my sports activities and even my family.

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy have both been trying to protect the PGA Tour from being weakened by something called the LIV Golf series, which has been backed by Saudi Arabia. Even though Tiger hasn’t been able to play in many tournaments lately because of his car accident in February 2021, Rory is still very thankful for Tiger’s friendship and leadership on this issue.

Tiger Woods didn’t have to do anything, but instead he chose to do the right thing for golf. Everybody on the PGA Tour should be thanking Tiger for this.
