UFC: Shauna Bannon Set to Make Debut in London in July

Shauna Bannon recently achieved a remarkable victory on points against Minna Grusander of Finland at Invicta FC 52 in March.

Ireland’s talented fighter, Shauna Bannon, has officially signed with the UFC and will showcase her skills in her promotional debut scheduled for July 22nd in London.

At the age of 29, Bannon becomes only the second Irishwoman to join the prestigious UFC, following in the footsteps of Aisling Daly, who last fought in 2015.

Joining the likes of Conor McGregor and Ian Garry as fellow compatriots in the UFC, Bannon will compete in the strawweight division.

Expressing her excitement, she said, “This is a significant milestone in my career, and I am incredibly grateful to everyone who played a part in bringing me here.”

Bannon has been training under the guidance of coach Paddy Holohan, a former UFC fighter who retired in 2015 after participating in five bouts.

While Bannon has accumulated just five wins in her professional career, her extensive amateur record includes notable achievements such as a gold medal at the 2021 International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) World Cup and a silver medal at the 2019 World Championships.

Numerous UFC stars have risen through the ranks of the all-women Invicta promotion, including former champions like Rose Namajunas and Carla Esparza, as well as the current two-weight champion, Amanda Nunes.
