Andre Onana, the Manchester United goalkeeper, is poised to return for their upcoming Premier League bout against Everton, following his transfer from Inter Milan in July for a hefty £47.2m.

The 27-year-old Onana sustained an injury during Cameroon’s convincing 3-0 win against Mauritius in a World Cup qualifier last week. However, he has resumed training in preparation for Sunday’s match.

Erik ten Hag, Manchester United’s manager, assured that while defender Luke Shaw is ready to play, the team is still evaluating forward Rasmus Hojlund’s fitness levels.

“Andre is in good shape. He joined in on training, indicating his readiness,” Ten Hag commented.

As for Rasmus, it’s a tight call. He’s been actively training, both indoors and outdoors. His progress has been impressive, but we’ll need a bit more time to make a final decision on his participation.”

Danish striker Hojlund experienced a muscle injury during the latter half of United’s narrow 1-0 triumph over Luton at Old Trafford on November 11.

The team welcomes back England’s defender Shaw, who has recuperated from a thigh injury that sidelined him since August.

Discussing Shaw’s comeback, Ten Hag stated, “Luke’s return is multi-faceted – it’s about his physical prowess, technical skills, and leadership qualities.”

He continued, “For a significant part of the season, we’ve missed a left full-back, so it’s a relief to have him back. His return will undoubtedly contribute to our team’s stability.”

Ten Hag also addressed and refuted speculations of discord with French defender Raphael Varane.

Reports had surfaced of a rift stemming from Ten Hag’s preference for Jonny Evans over Varane in last month’s Manchester derby, but the manager dismissed these as mere rumors.

He clarified, “I’m unaware of the rumors you’re referring to. Varane is a crucial team member, but internal competition is vital for a club of our caliber.”

He added, “Choosing between two outstanding players like Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire is always tough, but it’s part of managing a top team.”
