At the top of the world golf rankings, Scottie Scheffler clinched the Hero Golf Challenge title in the Bahamas, while Tiger Woods, making a comeback from injury, finished in the 18th spot among a field of 20.

Scheffler, representing the United States, wrapped up the tournament with a flawless four-under 68, concluding the event at 20 under par, three strokes ahead of Austria’s Sepp Straka.

Tiger Woods, in his first tournament since withdrawing from the Masters in April, concluded at an even score following a final round of 72.

Reflecting on his performance, the 15-time major winner remarked, “I think I’ve made significant progress. From shaking off some initial rust to competing for four straight days and overcoming a lot of that rust was tremendous. It’s been a while since I’ve been in the heat of competition.

“It was exhilarating to be out there with my fellow players, enjoying the game and engaging in some healthy competition.”

The 47-year-old Woods recovered from an early setback with a double bogey on the third, rallying with three birdies over the next four holes. He also scored birdies on the 14th and 15th, despite slipping on the eighth and 11th holes.

Finishing 20 shots behind his fellow American Scheffler, who was the runner-up to Viktor Hovland in the past two tournaments, Woods demonstrated resilience.

Straka finished with an outstanding 64 to secure second place at 17 under, closely followed by Justin Thomas in third place. Viktor Hovland made a significant leap, finishing 10th with a remarkable 63.

In an interview with NBC, Scheffler expressed optimism about the future, saying, “I believe this victory sets a positive tone for the upcoming season. I mentioned earlier in the week that this tournament would serve as a preliminary run for what’s ahead.”
