Victor Wanyama: Former captain refuses to Return to Kenya National Team Until Standards of Professionalism Increase

by admin

Victor Wanyama is a former Kenyan soccer player. He played 64 games for Kenya and scored 7 goals, including playing against famous Senegal player Sadio Mane. However, he announced his retirement from international soccer in September 2021. Moreover, Victor also said that he will not return to the national team until those running the sport in his country show more professionalism.

Victor Wanyama, a famous former soccer player from Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton, says that he still hopes to play with the Harambee Stars again but there are more details that need to be discussed first. He also mentioned that it has been difficult since Kenya has changed coaches seven times in six years, with Engin Firat from Turkey being their current leader.

Sports News Center Africa asked, and the coach said they had a lot of good players, but it was difficult because coaches changed all the time. But, things are better now since they’ve chosen one coach. The Minister and Coach both want him to come back, but he needs some time to think about it.

I’m thinking of coming back to the team and helping some of the younger players learn what it’s like to play for their country. I want our players to be treated better, with more respect.

Kenyan Footballers Aim High

Last year, Fifa banned Kenya from playing football for nine months due to problems with the Football Kenya Federation and their alleged misuse of money. The ban has been lifted, but this means that Kenyan players don’t have a chance to join in the qualification for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. To help make up for this, Kenya are now launching a bid to co-host the 2027 Afcon.

I talk to some of the players a lot, offering advice on what they should do and I think it is only a question of time before they make it into the top leagues around the world.

One great way for them to get noticed is by playing for their country’s national team.

For young players, it can be hard if this opportunity to play for their nation is taken away from them.

We really missed out on a lot when Kenya wasn’t in competition, so let’s hope they can go back to their former glory. Victor Wanyama spent three seasons working with Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham and he has huge respect towards his old boss.

Victor Wanyama

Victor Wanyama pays close attention to how his former clubs, such as Celtic, Tottenham and Southampton are performing. He worries that Southampton may get kicked out of the league, but he sees a chance for Tottenham to do well after Antonio Conte was fired.

Victor Wanyama, who used to play for Spurs under Mauricio Pochettino, says that it would be great for the team if Pochettino came back as manager. He remembers him fondly from his time there and said “He was a really good boss and like a father figure to us all.”

Victor Wanyama joined the Canadian soccer team, CF Montreal in 2020 and is one of the team’s vice-captains. Before that, he played for Spurs for four years, and everyone enjoyed playing under him. He would always ensure small details were taken care of and worked hard to improve everyone’s game. Everyone wanted to do the best they could for him because he treated them like his own children.

When Victor Wanyama plays in the MLS (Major League Soccer) he regularly comes across many well-known soccer players like Christian Benteke, Javier Hernandez, Jonathan Mensah from Ghana, and Kai Kamara from Sierra Leone. But there’s a certain someone that he really wishes he could play against again – Lionel Messi!

Victor said: “I had the chance to go up against him [Messi] when I was with Spurs in the Champions League. That was an amazing match and it would be great if one day ESPN would get to show us battle for supremacy again.”

“He is really amazing and he would be a great addition to the MLS.”
