What Went Wrong at Hearts Under Departed Manager Robbie Neilson?

by admin

Robbie Neilson’s team, Hearts, were doing really well and were in third place at the end of January. They had won two rival matches with a huge lead of 3-0 each and also crushed an opposing team called Aberdeen by 5-0!

Sadly, this fifth consecutive loss cost Robbie Neilson his job. He then said that they needed to take immediate action and figure out what to do about it.

Even though Neilson had a three-year contract just last summer, no one thought that the solution to Hearts’ struggles was a new manager. But how did things go wrong so fast? Recently, they said they need to get third place in the league, but now they have fallen down to fourth after losing badly to St Mirren.

Struggling Hearts

Hearts have been giving away bad goals and it doesn’t look like things will improve soon. The important players of the club including Kye Rowles, Stephen Kingsley, Robert Snodgrass and Barrie McKay are not playing as well as they used to. Could this be because they are tired after playing in European football for the first time? It could be possible that all this extra activity is making them more worn-out than usual.

Neilson had the chance to find good new players in a transfer window, but it didn’t work out. Hearts got two loan players for a little while – James Hill from Bournemouth and Garang Kuol from Newcastle. Hill started twelve games and did okay, but was sometimes playing an unfamiliar position. Kuol made eight appearances with one start. He had been at the World Cup with Australia, so people expected him to do great things.

Yutaro Oda usually starts a game every seven tries. Unfortunately, he hasn’t made much of an influence so far. Beni Baningime, who was really important to the team last year, is still missing and no one replaced him. Cammy Devlin has not been playing well since returning from the World Cup and Orestis Kiomourtzoglou, who joined last summer, also failed to show his skills. All this has caused difficulties with controlling the center of the pitch.

Michael Stewart, who used to be a player, said on Sportsound that it didn’t work out in January. They did not get the good players they needed and weren’t successful at finding someone to help strengthen the middle of their team. Each week has been more challenging because of this.

Neilson’s Dismissal – Was it the Right Choice for Hearts?

After the football team Hearts lost their last match at Kilmarnock, fans were unhappy and even wrote something outside the stadium asking Neilson (the manager) to leave his job. On leaving the pitch after the game, a lot of people booed and jeered Neilson, which he accepted was fair.

The manager said that the people who come to watch us should be given better performances because they paid for it. He also added that everyone needs to stick together and fight this tough time.

On Saturday, we will be playing against a team in the same situation as us and it looks like the bosses of our club think a change is necessary so that fans don’t get mad.

Recently, Stewart said that the Hearts wouldn’t “panic” and would give Neilson time. However, Pat Nevin claimed it would be too harsh to fire him. But this is what Heart’s decided to do now.
